SCRA 2007 Pre-Conference Workshops
NEW! Professional Development Workshops
We are excited to offer a new component to the SCRA Biennial experience! The 2007 conference includes 5 pre-conference workshops that will be held Thursday June 7, 2007 from 8:30-12:00.
Professional development workshops are hands-on, interactive sessions that provide the opportunity to learn and practice new skills. These workshops are longer (3.5 hours) than conference sessions and provide the opportunity for more in-depth examination of a skill or knowledge area and meaningful opportunities for skill exposure and rehearsal. Participants pay a small registration fee.
To protect the interactive, hands-on nature of the workshops, registration will be capped. Sign up now, as sessions are likely to fill before the conference begins. The deadline for workshop early enrollment is April 30, 2007.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE 2007 WORKSHOPS
Selection of the 5 workshops was guided by the results from the 2005 Biennial visioning process, as well as recommendations provided by SCRA members on the Survey of Workshop and Trainings Interests for the 2007 Biennial Conference circulated by the Interdisciplinary Linkages Committee. That input suggested that members would be interested in and benefit from longer, hands-on workshops because they offer an opportunity to build competencies related to the practice of community psychology and related fields while also strengthening interdisciplinary skills and relationships with sister organizations/fields and practitioners.
Survey responses indicated that SCRA members were interested in workshops pertaining to policy work, cultural competence, quantitative analysis, community development, and strategies for sharing evaluation/research findings with a variety of stakeholders. See below for a description of the 5 corresponding workshops being offered.
